I searched and saw in a 2-year-old question that this was a bug whereby Word & Excel on the Mac wouldn't accept characters that are illegal in Windows and the bug was expected to be fixed in an upcoming maintenance release. Therefore the windows cannot be moved or resized. If you select the Windows option, Excel will not allow changes to the display of the windows in the workbook. It does this whenever there's a \ in either the file name or folder name. Note: The Windows option is available only in Excel 2007, Excel 2010, Excel for Mac 2011, and Excel 2016 for Mac. Try saving the workbook with another name." The name of the workbook you're trying to save is the same as the name of another document that is read-only.Close the document in the other program and try again. I recently bought Office 2011 for Mac and am running Excel 14.4.3, apparently the latest, on Mac OS 10.9.4 (Mavericks).
